Following the Annual Meeting on March 15 when Governor of St. Petersburg Valentina Matvienko in her speech highly appreciated AmCham’s activities, the American Chamber of Commerce St. Petersburg Chapter continues applying its efforts to further contributing to the improvement of the regional investment climate and attracting investments.
March 30: Continuing its efforts to bring together local authorities, educational institutions and industrialists, AmCham St. Petersburg held such a meeting for Leningrad Oblast vocational schools and Oblast-based investors where all parties discussed ways of cooperation in resolving the anticipated blue-collar labor shortage.
AmCham’s Taxation Committee in April and May worked on various tax-related legislation issues, drafting suggestions for further addressing regional and federal authorities.

April 18: Customs & Transportation Committee meeting with Novita Stepura, head of the Trade Restrictions & Export Control Department, and Evgeny Bespalov, deputy head of the Customs Regimes Department, Northwest Customs Administration.
April 19: HR Committee roundtable on “Outsourcing HR Functions as a Demand Trend.”
April 26: IT Committee’s “Parks or Zones?” roundtable feat. Alexander Brega, vice rector of St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications; Yury Mikhaylov, head of the St. Petersburg Territorial Administration, Federal Agency for SEZ Management; and Andrey Terekhov, general director of LANIT-TERCOM.
May 15: Customs & Transportation Committee meeting feat. Alexander Getman, head of the Customs Clearance Organization Department, NW Customs – “Issues of the special simplified clearance procedures and pre-alert information.”
May 18: PR Committee meeting feat. Yaroslav Meshavkin, general director of the Coordination Council of the Unions of Employers, Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in the Northwest Federal District – “Employers–trade unionists’ relations and the Council’s experience of dealing with them.”
May 24: Joint HR and PR Committees on regulations and practices of business social responsibility activities; and out-of-date safety regulations needed to be changed.
May 31: AmCham St. Petersburg General Membership Meeting feat. St. Petersburg Vice Governor Alexander I. Vakhmistrov – “Recent trends in the city urban development.” Elections to the Executive Committee of the Chapter were also held.
June 2: AmCham Executive Committee meeting with a delegation of U.S. congressmen.
June 2: Supergame between the team of top managers of AmCham member companies and the team of St. Petersburg Government launched the 1st AmCham St. Petersburg Soccer Tournament . The tournament continued the next day between 16 member companies’ teams vying to win AmCham Cup. AmCham’s sportive initiative will continue with various sport activities including volleyball and tennis.
