Entrepreneurs about their role in Business

¹5(11) (16.06.2006)

1. You can walk on Nevsky prospect, turn your head to the left and to the right, and think: this house has a roof we made, and so does this one, and this other one, too… And you will know that when we are no longer here, the houses will still be standing with our roofs and people will be grateful. It does not matter that people do not know our names, or don’t even think about it.

2. If it will not be us, then who? The State – it does not go down to details... Major business – it acquires, mergers, shares costs, refines 6-sigma and blocks road signs with billboards… We’ll have to take it in our hands.

3. In roof construction in Russia a new era has started – National Roofing Union started operating. We put a lot of hope in this organization. Today, only this organization can bring chaotic movements of industry into one flow. An experience and innovation exchange has started among proactive companies, and we have found opportunities to defend our common interests from authorities and uniting the efforts of the players in the market development. Our experience and knowledge are in high demand in this situation. And we eagerly share it – it develops us and helps us to open new breathtaking horizons.

4. How do you feel about your competitors using your technologies?

I feel great. It means that we did something that is not only valuable for us. In the entrepreneurship world to be a recognized innovator is honorable. On the other hand, when innovation becomes a standard it is a strong motivation to move forward, do something new, do something better. In my point of view, this is what means being an industry leader.

1. The most important part in business for me is self actualization. Having your own business means working 12-16 hours with no weekends or vacations during the early stages, constant stress, enormous responsibility for people you have hired and lead to achieve an aim that only you understand, working in situations when the only constant value is yourself, and everything else – random-but-logical, etc; but it is still extraordinarily interesting. You can define for yourself what to do, whom to work with, create something new out of separate pieces…

2. The role of the entrepreneur is to stir the swamp that even a deep river will turn to if there is no current, no rotation. Stagnation in people’s minds is dreadful. And crazy entrepreneurs show everyone that you can change your life if only you want to do it, and you make the first step.

3. Well, definitely not calmly and peacefully. I am too adventurous. This is bad by all means, life has shown it to me a thousand times, but I cannot change myself. So I hope that I will be able to develop my businesses to a stage when I will delegate management to competent and smart managers, which will bring the regularity and order that is needed. And I will go on expanding my horizons.

4. How did the organization of new business affect the primary company performance?

It’s rather complicated. On the one hand, it is negative for the primary business as the main driver has less time for it. On the other hand, new experience allows us to see the solutions for what seemed to be unsolvable issues in primary business. Innovations are always good for business.

1. The most important thing is to implement our main philosophy, “WIN-WIN”. For us it is a profound, key meaning of our activity and existence. We cannot win if our clients lose. We cannot win if people in our company do not win. This strategy makes us stronger, and it demands maximum discipline.

2. See, get excited, inspire, support and share success!

3. What would you say if your database contained thousands of clients who were loyal to your company and its ideology. Our future is in strengthening relations with clients we have today. This year we open a ñall center, search opportunities of CRM.

4. How do you manage to work with such different target audiences as students and corporate clients?

We meet our potential clients when they are in school, we offer them the best. When they start higher education, we stay with them and then they become business men. We use 3 brands: Sindbad, ISIC-Piter and Sindbad Lufthansa City Center. All the brands are united by one meaning.
