What is U-Journal, and why it is U-Journal

The main idea that led us to the creation of our magazine was to provide a forum. It is important to us that it is thought of as a base for the dynamic and constant exchange of ideas, opinions and impressions between people who work in business and those who teach business.

The division between readers and authors is rather relative. At any moment a reader may become an author, or authors may become readers from time to time.

This is why we called it "the magazine for you and about you" – "U-Journal", where “U” stands for the familiar short form of "you". We also believe that our readers share our general values: belief in oneself, freedom, creativity, individualism, leadership and responsibility.

Fortunately, the U-Journal audience is represented by people who influence or can influence events that are happening at the moment, who make a difference, and who realize these values when taking important decisions. Leadership and responsibility are inseparable by definition.

For some people this implies personal responsibility for dependents and the social image of their organization.

For others, it means a job done well, or honesty and respect for customers. But how far does this responsibility go beyond a certain company? Speculations on social responsibility takes us back to where we started – to our mission, to existential questions about the search of meaning.

These days, business has taken on this meaning-making role, offering an answer to the question – Why?

SPIBA MEMBERS, AMCHAM, & ALL NEW READERS OF U-JOURNAL

Dear colleagues and friends!

Welcome to our family of funksters and netocrats – people who are united by shared values and a life of constant change!

Congratulations on the beginning of a new stage in the life of our magazine. Until now, it was a corporate magazine, but now it is YOURS! Its audience has been growing as fast as the number of people who use this network. The network is boundless, and so is talent. You have to own your own life and manage your own happiness – then you become a member of our family and a part of this network.

It has happened before that our little newsletter grew and suddenly became a "mature" SSERU magazine. It shone with colors and brilliant ideas about how to be successful, which made it a favorite with our students, graduates and partners.

Ludmila Murgulets
Vice President of SSE Russia
Chairman of Executive Commettee SPIBA

For all of us, this magazine was a big surprise which said a lot about its creators’ ambitions. Would it be realistic to try and compete with all those glossy magazines that are available on every corner? Was it realistic to try and compete with huge publishing houses when we decided to publish our own books?

It turned out to be quite realistic provided, however, that we invest our love and passion in it. If readers keep trading places with writers, and then they together play jazz… Oh! That was a great music and dance to the tune of talent! You could read about the science of happiness, love for finance, adventures and excitement.

All of a sudden everyone found that writing for the magazine was just as fun as reading it as everyone has an equal opportunity to create and receive pleasure and share their thoughts and feelings with THEIR readers. Readers and writers charm each other with their ideas and ruminations on their dynamic lives, which can be useful to others. Everyone has a chance and can contribute. These are all real features of netocracy – the new global community based on lifestyle and active communication. It is a network of new talent that does not depend on someone else’s directions or the limits of their occupation. They are free to create and enjoy themselves.

The magazine is FOR YOU and ABOUT YOU.
